Sergeant Pagano was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a member of the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines,
1st Marine Division.

He was seriously wounded while defending against a counter attack by North Korean forces during the liberation of Seoul,
South Korea and died of those wounds on
September 25, 1950.
